Gina, well done on bringing your bloods down so well and so quickly. It might be useful for other new folks to understand how you did that?

Personally, I might have felt like 9 months would be a long time to wait until my next formal test. Are you testing yourself, at home, and how do you plan to maintain those fab results?

Again, well done!

Congratulations @Gina1
They are great results. It would be interesting to know how have you changed your diet since your diagnosis? And I am also interested if you are testing at home?

Well done

It did mean changing my diet of course, changing from white bread to seeded or wholemeal , brown basmati rice, smaller portions , salmon and mackerel or chicken , High bp and cholesterol levels meant changing from all those lovely butters to those like pro activ or benecol. And before you think i turned into a proper goody two shoes , of course i fell off the wagon occasionally, curry out chinese , didnt beat myself up about it just cracked on . And I have not had a fag in 40 days , hells bells what has happened to me but I could vape for England . And if you really want a giggle my fella has bought me a bicycle now that might take a bit more dedication , but I have been out a couple of times now ding ding, silly billy even got one of those computers on it , speed distance etc , trust me it doesn't go anywhere far or fast lol
As for monitoring , yes I do it at home , bg and bp would feel very anxious if i couldn't do it,

Oh I did miss out saying I am also on 2000mg of metformin , 1 and half gliclazide ie 120mg , and 5mg of ramipril, started on 160 of gliclazide , but when nurse then added the metformin, cos my levels weren't coming down fast enough, i started to get very low bg around lunchtime . Ok if you like jelly babies I suppose .

Welcome to the forum Gina1 :) and congratulations on getting your sugars managed so quickly. Onward and upwards now.

Remember the things you have done in these first few months especially the changes which have resulted in lower sugars each month. Experience is a great tool for us.

Become an expert in your diabetes and what works for you !

Will you be able to cut down on or stop your meds now you've had such excellent results?

Well done Gina!

Are you able to guess how long you had diabetes symptoms before diagnosis?[/QUOTEddwell
