So after diagnosis in January I finally had my first podiatry check today. Very thorough examination, all good - she also tested my pulse in a couple of places on my feet and all 'perfect', probably due to newly diagnosed. Clipped my toe nail, then gave me the clippers as the NHS deems them once use only (let's not start on NHS wastage eh?).

She did suggest Flexitol to maintain my feet - said you have to check Urea content, try to get high as possible for it to be effective.

Interesting she said the best thing about E45 is their marketing department

Told me my next check would be in a year - I thought it was more regular so will check with my GP.

Good news all is well. The foot checks are annual, so she was correct in this. No reason why anything should change as long as you retain good diabetic control.

I disagree with her about E45. I swear by it for my hands and finger nails. I don't use it on my feet. I do have a full pedicure regularly though, so that gets rid of any flaky skin.

Not annual in these parts, though mine said to me anytime I want a checkup just to drop a her line.

@Bluetit1802 I personally didn't agree - although I tend to use an own brand emollient, as recommended by my late father in law who was a Dermatologist. I think her point was E45 is expensive and many don't realise cheaper version does same ie people still reach for Nurofen when Boot's own brand ibuprofen does the same ;)
