Hello I am currently a serving prison Officer but back in March I passed my assessment for the CNC, I have learnt today that they sat a medical board and have said I wouldn’t be able to be a police officer in the CNC, they said I can appeal this and the recruitment team have also told me to appeal, I feel they are just making the decision without seeing me, Iam very fit and only borderline type 2 although I am prescribed tablets if I need them.
Is it worth appealing.
Craig

Have you thought about whether with a particular diet you may be able, with medical advice, come off tablets and put your diabetes into remission?
It may be that be keeping things settled thereafter with such a diet, you may stand a better chance on appeal?

Welcome to the forum @Craig massey. I Don't think it would matter in the UK if you are diabetic.
Are you in Canada? I'm guessing that CNC is something Canadian.

Civil Nuclear Constabulary?

I do not know of a drug prescribed to borderline Type 2 patients only if they need them. What is this drug?

Hi @Craig massey I'm guessing you mean the CNC police (that protect nuclear sites and transportation of nuclear material) in the UK? If so, as you know this Police Service does not come under the Home Office (as do most 'normal' police forces) and therefore is subject to different rules, I am guessing they have said 'No' to diabetes because you have to be firearms trained? It does seem peculiar given you are a type 2, I note you say you have 'tablets' if you need them but do these include any glucose lowering tablets, ie those that would require you to inform DVLA? Otherwise I cannot think why they would give a blanket no. Can you ask for an explanation prior to any appeal?

Hi Craig, is CNC is Civil Nuclear Constabulary as a National Fire Arms Officer ? You say you are borderline type 2 ( pre diabetic) and could take tablets if needed. I would definitely appeal, as the medical board hear the word 'diabetes' and start to panic. You are not on any meds and definitely do not take Insulin.
Wishing you all the best. and good luck :)
Edited, forgot to ask, what tablets have you been prescribed ?

Th op has stated he has meds, if he needs them and borderline diabetes., so that sounds like pre diabetes.
