Polyclinics just for Diabetes

Hi all, just wanted to gauge an opinion about what people thought about a polyclinic system for diabetics. So distinct clinics for type 1 type 2, education programs all those sorts of things maybe even podiatry facilities so that instead of going to a gp you'd get your prescriptions and diabetes related appointments there.
I just feel that we the patients would receive more productive care in the long term and NHS money would be utilised better?
What are your thoughts?

Hi Pink

In theory it could be a good idea.
In practice it probably won't happen because we are all shuffling off our mortal coil due to not following NHS advice :)

Lol yes ofcourse but when you're first diagnosed and you go for yearly check ups or have a problem life would be made so much easier wouldn't it.
I am going to write a letter to the health secretary-lol, gawd **** it i want change! N yes we can! LOL

Dislikes
soaps on telly and people talking about the characters as if they were real.
Ought to be good,BUT!! something is bound to be a problem. Perhaps if you get diabetes care in one place, and GP elsewhere, something might slip between the cracks.
I am not a pessimist, just a realist, based on my and T1 husband's experience of the NHS

Hi all,

At first I thought it could be beneficial but polyclinics could not be staffed with diabetes experts because of the need to have staff experienced in mental health/sexual health & drug & alcohol related problems. We are to get a polyclinic here in Scarborough (much against local wishes) and the reason is because of the real need to address problems in the areas mentioned.

One benefit would be much longer opening hours but A&E would provide much better emergency care.

Regards and I go for my second Hba1c on friday.
