Malc

If it make you feel any better I also was really bad yesterday, went out to lunch with a work mate and the special was mozzarella and cherizo burger with chips. now normally if im going to be bad i'll just have the burger in the bun and ask for extra salad on the side or i'll have the burger no bun and eat just half of the chips (still bad but sometimes it has to be done).

Now don't all kill me at once, (because believe me my stomach made me pay for it all last night) but yesterday i ate every last one of those chips covered in loads of salt and vinegar and only stopped eating the bun once i was over half way through it.

So Malc your not alone

10.1 - dont worry. You know why it happened.
My daughter came home from school with a huge apple crumble she had baked.

It would have been just plain wrong not to have some with lashings of hot creamy custard.
So after a pretest in the 6's (usualy 5 before dinner but i couldnt resists some biccies with a cup of tea) I downed a chicken salad with a piece of white crusty bread (dont know how that slipped in there - seriously i don't!) then the apple crumble.

10.0 on the dot after 2 hours.
8.5 after 3 hours
6.3 after about 5 hours (which is nearly 5.9)

But you know what, I knew it was going to happen and I enjoyed every bit and told the child that I loved it and never showed a flash of consequence, because every now and again you just have to.

I never smoked, never binge drink, always look both ways when crossing the road so I allow myself to live a little with this rather annoying allergy to sugar.

All the best.
It sounded lovely food.

Just as a matter of interest, my HbA1c result last week was 6.64 (49 on the new system)...
I was quite relieved that it was below 7, having ventured into the 'tater hash & dumplings' saga that I mentioned earlier in this post...

Here's a photo of myself along with my wife, taken on our recent Ruby anniversary...

Well done Malc

We all have a few adventures with food along the way, it will only affect your HbA1c if you 'stay with the adventure' . I made a chicken stew with pearl barley a few nights ago and made dumplings for hubby. I LOVE dumplings so just pinched a spoonful of one, my level was okay afterwards so I will have to accept a small spoonful of dumpling is all that I'll be able to tolerate from now on.

Congratulations on your anniversary!

Ann

All the very best to both of you x

Wouldn't worry about 10 bud. Shouldn't effect your overall reading if its the only high reading in several months
