I had my 2nd appointment with the dietician this morning. Having chastised me at the first appointment for not eating obvious carbs with each meal, I was interested to see how this one would go. I went armed with my detailed 3 day food diary and BS readings for each meal which showed very stable levels between 5.4 and 6.6 both before and after eating. From the start she was pleased that my HbA1c reading had dropped from 64 on diagnosis to 45 just after my first appointment with her by following LCHF diet. She studied my food diary, was genuinely interested in the meals I was cooking, asked what chia seeds were, commented positively on how effective this diet was for me in keeping BS levels stable and in reducing weight. I was told to keep doing what I was doing and that I didn't need to see her again as she had learnt far more from me that I had from her!
Well done to all those on this forum who have offered their advice so freely; maybe we can change NHS thinking one dietician at a time! One type of diet doesn't fit all!
