Hi all, I had changed to my eyes around 3 years ago, then went to retinapathy now “possible” maculapathy :( I’m due for an appointment next month with eye specialist. Thankfully only one eye and only “possible”. I’m looking to know has anybody got the all clear? Or how treatment went? My eye sight is excellent, but there is a very slight dot in my central vision off center a bit. To me it seems to have improved that I’ve stopped drinking alcohol. So what can I expect from my appointment? Thanks guys :)

My hba1c is 6.1 and has been in non diabetic range for a number of years, I’ve lost some weight and my doctor doesn’t seem happy about it? I don’t wear glasses for anything my eyes are in great shape otherwise I don’t smoke either but I’m particularly worried about it as you can imagine....

Hi @ConorD29 ,

The only thing I can suggest at this stage in the proceedings, is wait untill your apointment & ensuing results from the scan.

You seem to be in a good place with your lifestyle & A1c which is always a plus.
Take it from someone who's had treatment for macula edema, results can be encouraging.

Best of luck.

Hi jaylee, thanks for the reply.
Do you have to sign a waiver before treatment Incase treatment doesn’t work? And how is your eye/eyes now after treatment? My small dot has dramatically got smaller to a point now it comes and goes, but seems to not be there at all when my sugars are around 9/10 mark after meals? Weird i know but comes and goes and is very slight compared to when it reared it’s head.... I can’t understand why or how but that’s how it is for me.
One if the things that I’ve noticed is when I go into work there’s a red light for forklift traffic, which before was just a blur now it’s not blurry I can actually see threw the brightness to the markings on the light itself pulse road markings used to be bright and irritating but now they are fine? I’m just trying to make sense of this because to me my eyes are getting better but to scans they are getting worse? I know, it doesn’t make sense to me either haha

Hi again,

There will be a consent form to sign, should treatment be deemed necissary.
For me it worked. But there is still ongoing monitoring.

Hi Jim, thanks for reply.
The dot is only there when I blink if that makes sense? My vision seems clear other wise? Had my eyes checked by my optician and both eyes nearly 20/20 no need for glasses either, type 1 22 years

Hi all, just an update. I had proper eye tests done Saturday at specsavers and all clear! No maculapathy! My eyes are in great health. What a relief that was, and I’ve only a very very slight dot in each eye “aneurism” so nothing leaking nothing needing surgery ect what a relief.

Hi Conor,

Great to hear results are positive for you! I got to a point where they were considering treatment but my control has improved a hell of a lot over the last few years and am now finding that the damage is reversing itself. So even if it's a problem you come across in the future tightening up your control and looking after yourself can make a world of difference :)
