Hi everyone
I have been reading this forum for a few days, finding it extremely informative.
The background is I had a tooth extraction and deep clean about 5 weeks ago. I went back last week for a check up to see how I am healing. The majority of my teeth are looking good but the two back corners were still bleeding when he prodded them, so he started me on some antibiotics. The dentist said I should go and get tested for diabetes as that might explain why they were still bleeding. I have no other symptoms of diabetes.
I was 10 stone overweight, have been intensively exercising with a personal trainer over the last 5 months and have lost 5 stone and over 40 inches. I am following a healthy eating, generally low carb diet.
I bought a blood gluclose monitor and my fasting overnight reading was 4.2.
I will need to go to my Doctor I know, but I don't have the best relationship with the surgery at present due to ongoing issues with my Father.
What is confusing me is whether the diet, weightloss and exercise could mask that I have diabetes. So if I get tested by my Doctor and it comes back reasonable, i am worried I might still have diabetes. Is that possible or am I just confusing myself?
I don't really want to come off my diet and stop exercising if at all possible as I am doing so well.
Any advice appreciated!
Cleo
