I need direction with this please. I work with profound learning difficulties people and when I support one in particular my blood sugar goes really low. hypo mode, as I am physically struggling to prevent myself being attacked, whether it be hair pulling or scratched and bitten. Last time I support I checked my bloods which were 9 before I started and 2.7 when finished. Have spoke to senior who did listen and suggested contacting H & S person for any hints and tips. I know they want me to continue to support but I am concerned what will happen if I go too low and am unable to use alarm??? Also i can only store my insulin in food fridge which I have been told I cant do that. I do foresee problems here any advice would be appreciated.

Hello @[email protected] my insulin only required the stock to be stored under refrigeration not the one currently in use, check yours out it might be the same, other than that put it in a sealed lunchbox in the fridge and label it "dead rat inside" (just kidding)

As for the fear induced low I expect that your metabolism rises and sucks out the BS (all good technical terms)

It is out of my experience but I would try shorter contact sessions..

PS Tell the supervisor that you would appreciate it if they tried a little harder because you do not like being discriminated against - I think he/she will duck for cover.

Hi thanks for your reply, My insulin is the same but I wanted a new pen stored in fridge as at times I work nights and may need to top up..Was told I cant put it in food fridge even though room is locked up ??? That was on a shorter time 3 hours, usually a 7 1/2 shift. If it continues I thnk I need to ask either to get off supporting that person or a transfer. Thanks again and see what happens.
