Hi,

Just wondered if anybody has any recommendations on breakfasts. My blood sugars always seem to spike after breakfast in comparison to other times of the day.

I am looking for something high protein to eat but don't want a sugar spike. Any help will be appreciated.

Thanks

Insulin is the primary tool to manage Type 1 diabetes not diet.
It is not unusual to spike more for breakfast. This is due to the increase in insulin resistance thanks to Dawn Phenomenon.
Eating something high in protein is unlikely to change this.

If your BG is spiking but returning to normal levels, you need to prebolus earlier for breakfast.
If your BG is staying high, you will need to increase your insulin to carb (or protein if you are eating little or no carbs) ratio for breakfast.

It common to have different prebolus times and insulin ratios at different times of the day.

Okay thank you.
They definitely come back down so I will look to take my insulin earlier moving forwards and see if this helps the spike in blood sugar.
