Hi all, I was put on metformin last year and suffer from reflux with it, stopped drinking lager as it made it worse and started drinking bitter with a bit of lemonade in it, would the lemonade up my blood count ? its still creeping up and i got a telling off this morning, the lemonade is from a post mix syrup... been searching but cannot find sugar content on this stuff.
Thanks in advance and sorry if its a silly question.

If you cannot determine that it's sugar free then it's safer to assume that it isn't. Just the word 'syrup' makes me suspicious. The only soft drink I use now is Pepsi Max.

gonna start taking my own sugar free bottle from now on.

The process of making beer, is to break down the ingredients into a sugar based 'syrup'. Fermintation is the name it goes by. It will spike you unless you are very very lucky.
Beer is full of carbs, a big no, no for diabetics, regardless of what it is mixed with!

For someone who is carb intolerant anything fermented or a chemical process that most lagers are, will be full of sugars and carbs.
You can tolerate lager but I suspect most will see a spike that they shouldn't be having on a regular basis

I sure the op is sensible enough to know the risks, particularly as he asked the question about it, and will know which way his BG goes when he drinks it.

I only drink john smiths smooth and sometimes only a couple after work, its a weak ale, i will cut out the pub lemonade from now and use my own.
