Hi

Hope you can help as I freaking out. I had my annual diabetic eye test in January that was clear

But then i had my baby boy in May & have since had post pregnancy diabetic eye test that hospital letter stated 'showed early signs of eye disease that could lead to retinopathy or glaucoma' but not enough to require treatment at present.

During pregnancy only I used insulin, did regular blood testing & attended fortnightly clinic where they seemed happy with my daily results. I have since returned to using pills only

Could it be/have been pregnancy as I did contract pre eclampsia which included high blood pressure that im still not fully recovered from due to effects of postnatal anxiety that also affected my appetite. Even my gp is surprised as my post pregnancy hbac1 showed good control of sugar ie last result 38.

I mention this as I read blood pressure affect eye health & in addition to Pregnancy it is only issues that happened in 6 months since my January check?

What are peoples experiences or opinion as I am freaking out!!

TIA

Please don't freak out this sort of thing is relatively common and can clear up on its own.
Diabetic eye complications tend to progress slowly and the medical staff and yourself are now aware of the situation
so regular monitoring will keep tabs on it.
this is something i have personal experience of, in fact just come back a treatment and cant realy see what i am typing at the mo so hopefully not to many typos:)
All the best.

Hi there, sorry I have no experience of this but why on earth do they send those letters out so casually with no follow up, no explanation, no reassurance! All the best to you, I bet your little 'un is working you hard. x

Thanks alot. Hope you are on mend soon. I'm hoping it is temporary especially since no issues in previous scans. They say can take 1 year for recover from pregnancy but worried be too late for eye sight issues. I don't have any sight issues hence extra shock at letter content but am trying hard to get BP down & extra vigilant at food choices.

Thanks again x
