Type of diabetes
Type 2
Treatment type
Diet only
Diagnosed as pre-diabetes a couple of months and and change of diet was suggested

My fasting glucose at the time was 4-5 mmol

Last week it was around 7mmol and this week ir is around 9mmol

Does this mean I have gone to type 2? I don't have a diabetes nurse and my GP is about as much use as a chocolate teapot

I have signed up to a low carb programme so hoping this will help

High morning readings could be caused by anything. Restless night, nightmares, hormones... It's the testing you do around meals that is the most telling. (Test before and 2 hours after the first bite. You want a rise of 2.0 mmol/l or less, and to stay below 8,5 over all.).

The low carb program should help greatly in getting your diabetes , whether full blown or in the pre stage, into remission. https://www.diabetes.co.uk/forum/blog-entry/the-nutritional-thingy.2330/ might be of some use too.

The bulk of us have had little to no guidance from our GP's, nurses and endo's, and what information they do have is often hopelessly outdated. Meaning that your being proactive right now, is going to make the biggest difference. Good on you!
