Hey everyone,
First post on here so hope everyone is good!

I'm having a bit of a tough time with it lately so appreciate any support.
I've been suffering from Low Testosterone and had a Varicocele which was embolised a few months ago. My T levels still remain on the lower side (8.3nmol/l last time it was checked) and I was also advised I was prediabetic with a HBA1C of 46mmol/mol.

I've been referred to an Endocrinologist who is now checking my Thyroid function along with another list of things I genuinely can't remember right now.

As you can imagine I'm worried sick about it all and can't help but think somehow all this is linked in a way.

I've a strong history of Diabetes in the family - my mum, dad and sister are all diagnosed with Type 2 so right now I'm the last one standing so to speak.

Hello and welcome, @Ryan92.
Sorry you are having these health problems. Good that you have endocrinology appointment.

Having diabetes in the family, can indicate you are at greater risk developing it too.
However, many of our members control their T2 using a low carb diet approach. Even managing to take blood glucose back to non-diabetes levels. As long as you are not on medication that can risk hypos, you could try that?

There is some information for new members in my signature at the end of the post. Have a read, and come back with any questions. Our members can advise based on their own experiences.

Hope your endocrinologist can advise on the low testosterone.

Testosterone is a hormone, your thyroid secretes hormones, insulin is a hormone... If one goes wonky, you often see others follow suit. So while it is just something I've noticed, your gut-feeling could well be right, and everything's working in on everything. It really can turn into a bit of a balancing act (for me it's estrogen/testosterone imbalance, too little thyroid hormones, and insulin-insensitivity), but you're getting help now, and that's excellent. Also, the numbers you're sporting are prediabetic, and as @Pipp mentioned, just a little change in diet might get that part of it sorted. You'll likely need a little more help for the other issues, and could potentially find diabetes to be "the easy one". That was true for me anyway. Don't need jabs or pills for that, and who knows, you might not either.

Just take a breath, go to your appointments, and know there's still a world of good you could do for your own health. You're not at the end station yet.

Just thought I’d post an update as I’ve had more blood work done.

My thyroid is functioning okay which is a reassurance and my T and SBHG is on the low side. But I’m literally on the borderline of being diagnosed diabetic so I’m as prediabetic as they come apparently.

Haemoglobin DCCT 6.5%
Haemoglobin IFCC 48 mmol/mol
Glucose Fasting Plasma 8mmol/l
