Hello,

This is my first message, so big hello to everyone. Just wanted to get some views from people on here. I've recently had my bloodtests done and one of the test was the hba1c. Unfortunately, it came back as slightly elevated at 6.2%, which puts me in the prediabetes range.
My fasting glucose is in the range of 5.3-5.7 mmol/L. Whilst not a concern on its own, it does put me in the borderline prediabetes range. As I am already leading a healthy lifestyle because of CVD (Cardio Vascular Disease) - I don't want another thing creeping up in the background, which can be an additional risk factor for heart disease. Usual protocol is to lead a healthy lifestyle to avoid prediabetes progressing to diabetes type 2.
To monitor my glucose more continiously, I have invested in a CGM. I have found that these can be a bit unreliable, however they give an accurate trend of the glucose levels in your blood albeit with a margin of error. I was surprised at the massive peaks & troughs. Typically, I can see my glucose rise from 5.7 to 9.5-10.5 within one hour. However, I does revert back to levels below 8 mmol/L after 2 hours.
Question - are these massive peaks a concern? There's growing voice of people stating that one should avoid these rollercoaster rides for the blood sugars. I am leading a healthy lifestyle avoid processed carbs and having complex carbs.
I am a confused on what to do next tbh. I am healthier now, but clearly my bloodsugars are rising as a result and at times pretty high too.

Thanks,
