I got my diet advice here and its the best advice you will find anywhere, period.Low carbs, high fat (LCHF) is a good place to start for many folks.High fat only in meaning if you dump the high carbs you have to fill that void with something else.Fats wont hurt your sugars, or your heart generally speaking unless you have cardiovascular issues, then thats another can of worms.
Carbs are all sugars once in your body.So generally eat above ground veggies for the carbs, they are low.No oats, rice, wheat, sugary fruits, bread, potatoes, pasta, cereals (most berries are OK),no grains.Certainly dont add any sugars.Watch out with processed foods as they are frequently loaded with sugars.Eat eggs, steaks with fat, sausages but watch for added sugars, pork, chicken and all the above ground veggies as a general rule.Olive oil, butter, cheese, sour cream, full cream, full fat milk.Full fat plain Greek yogurt... (Some, most?) low fat varieties add sugar so beware)with only berries you add to it,regular fat dairy. So much more in the workable category.
Get a meter, and test before you eat and 2 hours after starting. This will quickly show you what you can and cant tolerate. There is a starter thread that Rachox will send your way I reckon.
Check out the 'what did you eat today' threads, they are most helpful. Here is one with some chat.
