Hi
Back in October 2020 I was diagnosed with type 2 prediabetes, I'm really trying to lose the weight and reverse it. My question is I have been having a few hypos lately (My son is type 1) and was wondering if this was normal? I'm not currently on any medication for diabetes but i have been testing everytime I'm feeling shaky etc and I've always been 3.8 or below. I know about type 1 because of my son but the thing i know about type 2 is that it is mainly lifestyle contributated. Thanks

Well done on getting your blood glucose levels down to or near normal.
Unless you are on medication, you should not be having hypoglycaemic episodes.
3.8 is usually not low enough to be considered a hypo if it's only once or twice.
Keep testing but it is not your lifestyle, but as a conclusion of many things, and there are many types of type two, it cannot be classed as you are type two because you have ate the wrong foods and being not fit enough or obese.
People get diabetes for all sorts of reasons.

What you may be experiencing is a false hypo, where you get the symptoms, but it's because of your level of blood glucose going down quickly.

If you are still getting hypos, there may be a reason for it.
Let us know how you get on.

Keep safe
