Hi all,
My step dad was going for blood tests on Monday to check for diabetes amongst other things. I was diagnosed type 1 in January so as a bit of a pre-empt he asked if he could use my meter to give him a heads up. When he checked it was 1.5 hours after eating and he came up as 16.8, I would assume that even though he'd not long eaten that this would be an indication of diabetes but of course I'm not medically trained so just said it was high and see what the doc said. So he went for the test Monday, 12 hour fasted, phoned yesterday for results and they said he was fine.
Can anyone clarify for my own understanding how that can be? What tests would they have likely done? How can he have a reading of 16.8 and not be diabetic (ok I know it's only one reading but still) Is it something he should keep an eye on?
He's saying that he's obviously fine and nothing to worry about so he's just going to forget it and carry on as is, fair enough, but I'm worried he may be doing more damage. Any one else experienced anything similar and have any advice?
