Prediabetes with Haemoglobin E trait

Hi all,

I wonder if anyone can give me a direction. Early last year I was diagnosed as prediabetic and my HBA1C was 45. I was surprised as I was only 37 and physically fit and healthy.

Then I went back again after 3 months to check my HBA1C and result said they can't determine my HBA1C as I have haemoglobin e trait and it's interfering the results!

Then doctors gave me serum fructosamine test which came back 237 umol which is equivalent to HBA1C 38.1 mmol.

After doing a quick research on Internet I learned serum fructosamine only gives average sugar level for 2 to 3 weeks.

Does anyone has experience like me? What test do you do so I can suggest my GP to do the same test.

Many thanks.
