Prediabetic/glucose intolerant and testing

Hi!
I've just been told that I'm glucose intolerant but didn't have a lot of advice or information from my GP. I'm booked in to see someone at the diabetes clinic soon.

I'm wondering about testing, sometimes I just don't feel "right"

What's the best time to test? I just want to keep an eye on my levels really to make sure I'm eating the right food etc. and to see if the dizziness and nausea is related.
