hi I posted here a few years ago when my hba1c was 42 just on the borderline of prediabetes. I managed to get it down to 40 then 38 and now it’s at 45 and I’m totally depressed and lost with all of this. I worked really hard the last few years to to lose some of my belly fat which I managed to do and drop the hba1c and managed to get my triglycerides low but my cholesterol stayed high. The last year has not been good I’ve had a hard year and my belly fat has returned and increased my hba1c to 45. I’m not even considered overweight but my waist is around 33 inches and I’m only 5 ft tall woman so I think it should be less. Also my cholesterol and triglycerides are now high as well it just seems like a never ending battle! I really don’t know how to handle all these problems as there is so much conflicting advice. Any help would be appreciated regarding prediabetes and cholesterol high triglycerides.

Also if just turned 53 and in the late stages of perimenopause which I think is making everything worse.

No advice but I’m in a similar boat….

BS always diet controlled but since peri menopause/menopause can’t get rid of belly fat and BS is erratic

A lot of the "advice" we get doesn't take into account that we are all individuals with differing body shapes and differing physical use of nutrition. We have no control over where we store our fat or where we lose it from, so constant criticism about body shape is unwarranted and unhelpful. The same applies with our blood glucose responses to diet and lifestyle. We can only do our best, and constant comparisons with others or "goals" is unhelpful and can be demoralising. As for cholesterol, I recommend reading "The Great Cholesterol Con" for greater understanding - written by a doctor, and should be read by all doctors. Menopause is a b****h and skews everything. The aim is survival, and we all survive much better without constant criticism, comparisons and "ought to's" Like you, I have a good BMI and carry weight around my waist and belly. It isn't a fault, it isn't anything we've done or not done, it's a physical fact we were born with, much the same as eye and hair colour. We have to live with what our genes have supplied.
