hello everyone, first time Ive posted on anything like this but you guys are the only people who truly get it. I wanted a baby so aimed to get my HBC1C down as i was what you could say badly controlled for many years. I gradually got mine down bit by bit but to help get it better i was put on the insulin pump from my pre conception clinic which was good but very confusing as not technology minded. i am now pregnant and struggling to get my sugars steady within the tight targets, they are better than they ever have been but just not quite there, having lot of lows at the moment. I don't have a very routine lifestyle could anyone who has done this give me any tips or advice on how they did it, as i am very scared. thank you x

Hello @jena swan Congratulations and well done on achieving so much already with your pregnancy :) Firstly can you get support with a CGM from your team based on your circumstances ? Each trust does have access to them, they can generally loan one out to you, also are you getting much guidance from your diabetic team with your pregnancy, they should be helping you to manage the pump more with your pregnancy so are they doing this ? Hormones really don't help the process as we do have to deal with the counter effect of managing our hormones along with our BG levels, which can be especially hard with pregnancy. I know there are tight targets with pregnancy which is unfair as it places more pressure/stress on what should be an amazing experience, however they are just targets, the reality as we all know is quite different but doing what you can is really all you can do. Please try not be be scared though, I went through gestational diabetes 10 years ago with my daughter and although mindful of what diabetes was doing I tried hard to purely focus on remaining calm and doing what I could do so that I wasn't getting stressed or anxious. Hopefully your team can give you more support with this and please let us know how you get on :)
