Hi everyone,
Got admitted to hospital New Year’s Eve with DKA and found out I was pregnant,
Not planned and normally quite good control.
However my blood sugars have not been below 12 since I found out and don’t understand why they are so high!
I have my first midwife appointment tomorrow, just abit worries and would like to hear some stories from people who have gone through the same thing. Xx

Hi, diabetes is really unpredictable during pregnancy.
It may be you are high because of the hormones! I would call the doctor or call the midwife to find out what to do, they will appoint a diabetic midwife for you and you should be seen by a specialist consultant (UK) they will help you control bgl.
I would try to get the ball rolling asap with seeing them to get those blood sugars under control.

P.s congratulations... TBH they all like to surprise us even if you are trying lol.;). Hope everything goes well, keep us on the loop... let us know if you need more help and advice, remember every pregnancy is different, just because it is one way for one person doesn't mean it will be the same for you.

Thank you, yeah I saw a doctor today, and he was so unhelpful and said how it wasn’t the best time, and made me feel bad for having DKA. Like diabetics are not allowed to get ill :(. I have the midwife tomorrow though, and also seeing a diabetic specialist, so hopefully they will help me get on the right track! I know it’s such a shock especially the fact I am getting married in 9 months as well . Going to be a busy 2018 x

Double congrats then.
Don't listen to that, if you are happy then he should be looking after you... dka May have happened because of pregnancy... so the fact that it happened and "not being the best time" is irrelevant.
They do the same with me, I have learnt to ignore them though it does get to me sometimes, after a while they just accept it and you with your condition and get on with helping you.
I just had my 7th baby in October and have had consultants, midwives, h.v and GPS all trying to tell me what to do, they tried scare tactics and devils advocate... but none of them looked to me and what I thought and felt. It may be unfashionable or "abnormal" but this is what suits me and no one knows me better than me!
I will say the same to you, you are getting married, which tells me you are in a stable, loving relationship. If you are happy with having kids and what it, then ignore the comments.
