Hello and congratulations :). You obviously need to keep you blood glucose levels as perfect as you can but it does get much harder as the pregnancy progresses and you will find that you need help from your diabetes team. I had to attend an antenatal clinic on a regular basis where i saw a midwife, an obstetrician, a diabetes consultant and a diabetes nurse all on the same afternoon (this was fortnightly throughout my pregnancies) so they will keep a very close eye on you from all angles. lets hope your hba1c comes back at a good level too

Mine hba1c was 9.5 when i found out i was pregnant, i only managed to get it down to 7.5 by the time my daughter was born but everything was fine and she was perfect. I know its not ideal but it didn't cause me any problems, if i was planning another pregnancy i would make sure it was nice and low first though so try not to worry just do the best you can from now on.

Congratulations.

Are you taking folic acid? As a diabetic it us particularly important and you should take 5mg each day. It's a higher dose than normal people and you need to get a prescription from your doctor.

7 is pretty good compared to mine! Just try to be extra careful from now on and it should only get better. There are always risks with being diabetic when pregnant but you can only do your best and i'm sure things will work out great for you. I don't think your being selfish, its a lot of hard work for you, i hope you have the support of others around you who understand why your trying so hard :)

Hey Lucy, I don't have any pregnancy advice (sorry!) I just wanted to say congratulations and wish you all the best xxx
