Prescribed Canagliflozin

Good evening, so far I've not been medicated for my T2 but haven't been controlling it well through diet so Ive agreed to be medicated. I was steered away from metformin and have been prescribed Canagliflozin. I'm petrified to take it as the common side effects are UTI's and thrush. I get these on a regular basis already which really effects my mood (on meds for depression and anxiety), I just couldn't bare to get anymore . My diabetic nurse just said 'try them' but I really don't want to be peeing razor blades over the Christmas period. I've also been taking D-mannose to prevent post intercourse UTI's which has really worked but now find that diabetics should steer clear of. Had anyone got any experience with Canagliflozin please? I'm in tears, I'm damaging my body by not controlling my BS (despite only having carbs with my evening meal) but by controlling my BS I could get awful side effects which could push me to my limit to be perfectly honest

I was so miserable (suicidal to be honest) on medication that I can stick to a low carb diet no problem.
Christmas can be problematic for many people, but if you needed a push to take control, this might be the time, perhaps?
Have a look for low carb Christmas recipes and go from there.
You might actually be raising your blood glucose by having carbs only late in the day. I could see a distinct drop when I started to have just 10 gm of carbs and eating breakfast, then going all day before eating again. I eat at 12 hour intervals.
Rather than take medication I'd eat frogspawn, sorry frogs, as I reacted badly, but no food is worth having horrible side effects or dreadful consequences.
