Pressure sensation on bolus

Have just changed my set and it felt fine upon insertion. Have gone to bolus for lunch and it's a site where I have a feeling of pressure as I bolus. Not painful but I don't like the sensation. Sometimes these sites work fine regardless and other times they get very sore and have to be changed early.

Anyone else get this? Anyone know why?

hi mushy
does the site swell at all ??

i only know about MDI injections and rotation is paramount in avoiding issues.
i have been fortunate as I have rotated regularly for the last 43 years and get good absorption.

am about to go on a pump in 6 weeks and am concerned about siting issues.

can't really help with your exact problem but hopefully bumping it may help :)

I'd change the set Mushy, if it hurts when bolusing then something isn't right, I had this once (wasn't sure if it was touching a nerve/muscle) so changed the pod.

@noblehead that's the weird thing. It doesn't hurt at all but I can feel the bolus. It's like having air pumped into you or something. BG is spot on so leaving it for now. I had 2 site failures in this area last week so trying to avoid another one so my next site has longer to recover!

@himtoo no swelling or anything. Just this weird sensation. I never noticed absorption issues on MDI but I have on the pump. Mind you I never had such excellent control on MDI so it was harder to spot those issues. I rotate very carefully and always change sets every 3 days. I am quite petite and I have to avoid my tummy after years of injecting so I don;t have so many pump sites. I think you will really enjoy pumping but even if it's not for you I think you are right to try it. I hated it at first but told myself I would stick with it for 6 months no matter what. That was 5 years ago and I've never looked back! Even with my sites not being so good I still prefer pumping.

mushy -- my heart is with you being a "smallie" - you can only find so many sites no matter who you are and if you are petite it adds a limit not faced by all.

you obviously achieve great A1c's so the sensation isuue is -- the usual sh*t we have to put up with to try and be normal -- full marks to ya kiddo !!

If your bg levels are fine and it isn't uncomfortable then leave well alone Mushy, up to now I've not really felt the bolus go in as you've explained.

@MushyPeaBrain I sometimes get a similar sensation with the injection ports I use. I find it tends to occur more with the 6mm straight sets than the 30 degree ones. I think it's possibly because the cannula is just touching on muscle with this type of set up. That may be what you are experiencing.
