Preventing ED

I have recently been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, not yet on medication but advised to control diet.

The problem I have is with ED, it’s very strange as doesn’t always effect me i will go 2 or 3 months without problems then a fortnight when I won’t be able to get or maintain an erection. In fact I was diagnosed in Early Feb and had suffered ED in the run up to the diagnosis, but since been gone until this weekend.

I know I’m probably waffling and this is a trivial matter so I apologise but it means a lot to me as I’m only 39. So from reading if I can control my blood sugar by cutting carbs primarily, lose weight and exercise more am I likely to see improvement in the condition? As I say in the past it has miraculously gone away before and I can’t pin that down to any particular change in circumstances.

Any advice gladly received.

I can't speak from personal experience of ED but I have noticed a whole number of other health conditions have disappeared with my ketogenic diet. Sleep apnea, acid reflux, bloating and snoring have all disappeared (well the snoring greatly reduced according to hubby). I wouldn't want to make any guarantees but better blood sugar control certainly wouldn't hurt.

It is quite possible that it is nothing to do with diabetes. ..many ED sufferer's are not diabetics

@Clifton556 It is no trivial matter, it also involves a partner too. They may not voice their opinion, but it is worth asking them. See you Dr. It might be related to diabetes, but then again it might not. As @bulkbiker says, controlling your BG's can only help

She is aware of it and it has never really bothered her as it always seems to rectify itself within a couple of weeks. There seems to be no trigger for it starting or stopping.

It has happened before my diagnoses, maybe I’m just wired that way?
You may have had high sugar levels pre diagnosis? I was "lucky" to have had a pre diabetes warning a couple of years ahead of being diagnosed but was not really told what to do apart from the ever helpful "lose some weight" like I hadn't spent most of my adult life trying to do exactly that!

I’ve been trying to lose weight for 20 years with limited success. Last 2 years is when the problems have started really and that’s when I’ve been my heaviest.

That's why I was so amazed when I cut carbs almost completely and lost 8 stone over 18 months without really being hungry or counting calories.

For the last 2 years I’ve been single and haven’t had any sexual activity but recently I’ve found someone and we’re now in a relationship but we can’t do anything because I can’t keep it up I have never had this problem before so I don’t know what is going on I’m only 29 surely I shouldnt be having this problem if anyone has any advice for me it would be much appreciated!
