I very rarely ever injected into my tummy unless my bg was high. Most of the time I just used my upper arms with 5 and 4mm needles and insulin worked all ok with no problem re pain or needle marks.
Re bg testing, at home I now use the front of my fingers below the nail bed on a finger prick setting of 1 or 2 and blood flows ok enough to do a test. This saves the finger tips from hole damage and hard skin.
