Prickly Gourd

I've seen it advertised as a supplement which reports to have a good effect on blood glucose but I've no idea if it has any effect or benefits.

If you mean Bitter Melon which is some kind of Gourd then yes I take it as I find it very effective at stopping post meal BG spikes although it does hardly anything to reduce background levels. You can buy it it capsule form which I would recommend as trust me it tastes foul. The Indian name for the same thing is Karella. I take 3 grams per day spilt between breakfast and dinner. Similar things are Gymnema which I also find effective and Banaba which I also found effective but expensive.

I also take Bitter Melon and Gymnema. Like Steve mentioned avoid the powder, (Karela) I have a bottle here and it is the most foul substance on the face of the earth. Get capsules.
