Pride comes before a fall...

Any particular reason you opted for the carbs in beer instead of the low carb red wine?
Its a good question. I get more cravings for junk when I am either tired or have been eating poorly. At least the OP sensed, through his beer goggles, that perhaps the beer wasn't doing him any favours!

Remember that all access alcohol is converted to liver fat, hence even carb free alcohol if we have too much results in poor long term BG control. I expect that for most of us, we are OK provided we limit it to 2 or 3 glasses a week.

2 or 3 glasses a WEEK! Are you kidding???

Be careful with Rum though, White Rum in excess can stop your insulin working. I found that out the hard way, of course, so it is worth passing on. I still remember waking up in hospital the following morning, to be told "don't do it again, we didnt think you were going to wake up."

If ya want beer try coors light . It’s a lot lower Han ordinary coors and the same alcohol . Or for cider drinkers magnersliggt even lower carbs

You’ve just reminded me that my local sells Skinny Lager!

How many carbs are in Magners Light? Can’t seem to find it online.

I think a 500 ml bottle gas 4 g carbs . But check it out first .

Don't drink alcohol myself....well not since my teens in the 50's when a Babycham on a Saturday night when we went dancing made me feel queasy. I have never liked the taste of alcohol so strange to me as to how people can actually like it. I did think though that if you are on any regular medications you should not drink alcohol anyway

Thanks for the support guys! Red wine & whisky are the new tipples of choice. In moderation of course.
If you haven't tried Jamesons I would highly recommend it. I drink it neat, really is delicious.

I wish I didn't like it! Unfortunately I find alcohol hugely life-enhancing, and love(d) nothing more than a few pints - probably one of the reasons I developed Type 2 diabetes! I'm glad there are low carb options I can go for instead of the demon beer.
