Hi guys,
So I attended clinic this morning and was told my retina has detached a lot more. The surgeon couldn’t see me as he was in theatre and I’ve been told to come back on Thursday afternoon to discuss and talk about operation.
Obviously right now I am panicking and absolutely terrified as I can’t see anything out of the whole of my upper vision in my right eye and there shadow is resting just above my focus point. So Id love to know if anyone here has had a private treatment for this tractional retinal detachment,as my clinic doesn’t really seem that concerned about delaying my treatment and losing more of my vision whilst they find time to see me, and what cost they paid to have it done?
Also if there is a surgeon out there who specialises and is very experienced in dealing with this condition as my surgeon in my last talk didn’t strike me as being overly confident about performing the surgery and that put me at a deeper unease.
Thank you x

Appreciate this must be a scary time for you (had my own bilateral vitrectomy to treat retinal bleeding) so I empathise.
A client of mine at the gym had a detached retina and was also desperate to get it done quickly and privately however despite being an ex -NHS consultant he could not find any private options in England. Not sure why this seems to be the case as detached retinas are not uncommon and I would have thought there was a demand.
Sorry that this is not very heartenning but there may be someone on here who has found help. My NHS surgeon in Moorfields (Eric Ezra) was very good and restored the sight in both my eyes.
