I just looked up flora proactive spread ingredients and the list is too long to write here !
Choice is yours
CAROL
Vegetable oils in varying proportions (55%)(sunflower, rapeseed, palm, linseed), water, plant sterol esters (12.5%), BUTTERMILK (6%), salt (1%), emulsifiers (mono- and diglycerides of fatty acids, sunflower lecithin), citric acid, flavourings (contains MILK), preservative (potassium sorbate), colour (carotenes), vitamin A and D.
Oh yes, the colouring. I watched a TV program a while ago which showed that these spreads were an yukky grey colour before they tarted them up.
I watched a program on BSE once.
I wouldn't be overly scared of a colouring made from a carrot, and other veg.
It's actually the natural colouring in butter, so would that cause you a problem now?
Sugar free farm a couple of weeks ago - Anne widdecombe refused to eat the lovely organic butter from the farm said she preferred the spreads - the dietitian got her to make the "spread" - over 20 ingredients looked yuck - she had others making butter - a jar and some organic milk from the cows on the farm - shake it up - well the butter did take over 2 hours to make shaking it up but pure organic food nothing added and great load of exercise too - apparently a good one for bingo wings- she managed to change Anne's mind - well on that one anyway- she wasn't interested in anything else lol
I have never bought butter with colouring in - which brand is that @douglas99 ?
I realised what you meant after I posted the question @douglas99 but didn't have time to come back on right at that moment I probably don't eat coloured butter as I buy grass fed butter, not from cows fed on carrots (nowt wrong with carrots) mainly for the family as I am not that keen on butter anyway so hardly ever eat it. I don't eat the spreads either, horrid things but it's up to the individual to decide what they think is best. everyone has their own reasons why they choose the food they eat - it's not my place to tell them differently but passing on knowledge is what we all do to help people make informed choices
Yes, many people quote the studies that show saturated fats are no worse than refined carbs to prove that saturated fats are good.
