Type 2 Proactive Spread or Anchor butter

@douglas99 - not getting into a tit for tat discussion- I know where my butter that I buy comes from.

Yes, milk.

The problem is, I used to work in the milk industry, and I know what we did to get the milk.
'Big food' is about the money, regardless.

Look at the Kerrygold website, headline news is bulletproof coffee.
Even they refer to it as a 'craze' while selling you the butter for that craze.

Read the q&a, they admit that over 15% of feed is 'supplements' not good old irish grass.

They make a 'spreadable' butter with 29% rapeseed oil.

Everyone follows the money, even our heroes prove to be as corporate as the rest.
 
Oh yes, the colouring. I watched a TV program a while ago which showed that these spreads were an yukky grey colour before they tarted them up. :hungover:
I saw a programme like that and haven't eaten spreads since. Anything that has that much processing in its making is not for me I'm afraid. I've been on butter for a very long time now and my cholesterol is just about the only thing I was getting right for a while before I found LCHF.

My husband took early retitrement many years ago and as I was still working so he took over the shopping and cooking, but apparently never checked what was actually in the fridge. One day i found a pack of 10 year old (!!!) Stork lurking there which had lost its yellow colour and looked just like a lump of anaemic Vaseline... I believe margarine is or was actually a petroleum by product...:yuck:

Kerrygold for me every time! I've never chosen to eat marge or adulterated spreadable "butter" if I could possibly help it,

Who said I buy Kerry Gold? You have no idea from who or where I buy my food so don't assume - 3 generations of chefs and restauranters from different cultures, including myself - sourcing local food with provenance, I understand the food market considerably

Amazing how alternative facts are abound nowadays.

Another 'real fact'
It looked white, like lard, mainly because it was.
So it was coloured, with natural carotene, as no one wanted to spread lard on their bread.
