Butter every time. I'm not sure what pro-active spread is, but it will be highly processed and probably rubbish. I use Kerrygold butter because it claims to be from grass fed cows, which is better for you.

Non-insulin injectable medication (incretin mimetics)
I would always go for the Anchor myself... butter is allowed on LCHF!

Look at the list of ingredients. I avoid things that have additives and preservatives.
I always choose butter it's pure and simple.

Depends on how your cholesterol is.

I avoid saturated fats, so I'm happy with mine.
But I don't use a lot of butter, so I don't need to replace it with ProActiv.

Oh yes, the colouring. I watched a TV program a while ago which showed that these spreads were an yukky grey colour before they tarted them up. :hungover:

I watched a program on BSE once.
I wouldn't be overly scared of a colouring made from a carrot, and other veg.

It's actually the natural colouring in butter, so would that cause you a problem now?

I forget what the program was now. Think it was one of the celeb chefs showing what went into some processed foods. The reformed chicken nuggets put me off for life !
The fact that the spreads were such a grey concoction before the colour was added was what put me off. They also did a decomposition test on that and butter. Butter held up well but the spread ended up a mouldy mess .. yuk !

Sugar free farm a couple of weeks ago - Anne widdecombe refused to eat the lovely organic butter from the farm said she preferred the spreads - the dietitian got her to make the "spread" - over 20 ingredients looked yuck - she had others making butter - a jar and some organic milk from the cows on the farm - shake it up - well the butter did take over 2 hours to make shaking it up but pure organic food nothing added and great load of exercise too - apparently a good one for bingo wings :) - she managed to change Anne's mind - well on that one anyway- she wasn't interested in anything else lol

I have never bought butter with colouring in - which brand is that @douglas99 ?

The one from the cow.
All butter, like spreads, is coloured with entirely natural carotene.
Food can be naturally coloured, it's nothing to be scared of.
(Actually, you probably have bought 'coloured' butter. the dairy cattle are fed a high carotene diet, so it gives the milk a 'lovely organic' colour, we all 'know' yellow butter is full of natural goodness, white butter is merely a pale copy)

A bit like a cow itself, when you eat it, it's got natural colouring, unlike veal, which is artificially raised on a low iron milk formula supplement, to give a white meat.

Colour is king, and the customer always knows best.
And they'll pay to be proven right.
'Big food' makes a lot of money from it.

I realised what you meant after I posted the question @douglas99 but didn't have time to come back on right at that moment I probably don't eat coloured butter as I buy grass fed butter, not from cows fed on carrots (nowt wrong with carrots) mainly for the family as I am not that keen on butter anyway so hardly ever eat it. I don't eat the spreads either, horrid things but it's up to the individual to decide what they think is best. everyone has their own reasons why they choose the food they eat - it's not my place to tell them differently but passing on knowledge is what we all do to help people make informed choices

Grass fed is a misnomer, as it's applicable if the cow has ever been fed grass once in their life.
Even dried, as silage.
But grass is full of natural carotene.

Who knows, maybe Flora is coloured with carotene from grass as well.
Like any food, whatever is cheapest.

@douglas99 - not getting into a tit for tat discussion- I know where my butter that I buy comes from.
