Hi carb Foods
Lately I'm having problems keeing my BG UP
I'm now basically on D&E to control my BG and it seems to want to sit at ~4.2 to 4.4 if I eat something my BG will rise but quickly scuttles back to ~ 4.4. Likewise if I exercise hard I can force myself to dip to 3.8 to 3.9 but then my liver dumps me back up to ~ 4.4.
Problem is DVLA want me to stay ~ 5.5 so my fingers are getting like tea-bags and i'm taking in tooo many carbs
HELP

Personally, your levels are so good, I'd ignore them! I often get readings in the threes with exercise. So what? Non diabetics get that all the time. If you are mainly D&E, just stick to what is working so well and blow them. If you were on drugs that could lead you to hypos, then fair enough. But if not, just accept they're following the standard party line they give to people on insulin as you used to be.

How come you have to report to the DVLA at all Fergus? If you are controlling by diet and exercise alone even if you are a commercial vehicle driver you don't need to report or am I missing something? http://www.direct.gov.uk/prod_consu...n/@motor/documents/digitalasset/dg_197318.pdf
When I moved back from insulin, Both DVLA and Hospital insisted I still needed to keep the 5.5 standard :(

Well that's a killer. Was thinking about telling you to get your doc to say you're no longer diabetic. I know you are, you know you are but with the hBA1c you'll be returning if you are averaging 4.4 then it will say you're not but I don't think even that works if they just have that kind of blanket rule. 5.5 for diet only diabetics is stupid its the FBG value you start to be diagnosed glucose intolerant so the majority of non diabetic drivers are under it!
