It's never perfect, is it? Actually getting to see anyone about anything is pretty well impossible here (Western Isles - offshore Scotland). Because our hospital Diabetes clinic stopped seeing people during the Covid thing (and never started up again) I asked to transfer to my GP surgery. I did see the Diabetes nurse at that point but information from her was not forthcoming (any test results were her secret, not mine). I do have a weekly appointment at the surgery so that another nurse can put bandages on my legs, which is fine, but that stops the system allowing me any other appointments with doctors or nurses.
Similar issue with podiatry at the hospital - everyone had to find a private podiatrist (like hens' teeth here) with the result that I - and others, no doubt - had to wait for many months before receiving any footcare (couldn't get my shoes on at that point).
Opthalmology - similar issues, and getting information from the surgery about reports from specialists is an obstacle course.
I have CKD as well as T2D plus some issues related to fluids, but nobody is remotely interested in advising me or referring me to any experts.
As a result, I do my own thing - whether right or wrong, and muddle through. A happy medium between what we here have, and what you all seem to have, would be nice.
