i feel all your pain. My Gp's have recently started to hound me too, over various results, I've got an elevated red blood cell count so they referred me to the haematologist for further investigation. Most recent bloods - still high, obviously no one had read the letter which had been attached to my notes about the on going tests and a phone call that I needed to make an urgent appointment. 2 weeks later, one of the Dn's at the surgery phone tell me I need to have a Hba1c, again they haven't read/checked my notes, I'd had a Fructosamine test as my dodgy blood could have been affecting the results. I politely pointed this out, they then looked and said that the results were now in, so I made an appointment with the "sensible" DN

I’m actually seeing a specialist at the hospital next Tuesday..
which is great because I have an eye checkup an hour before at the same hospital then I just walk round the corner to the diabetic centre?
You wouldn't be out of the eye clinic in an hour at my local hospital. It's usually anywhere between 2-4 hours!

Ditto! But at least at my local hospital my specialists for eyes and for diabetes are great, they listen and generally take on board what i'm saying.

The diabetes team are brilliant, and usually the eye department are very good, but unfortunately the last couple of visits to the eye clinic weren't great, simply because the new registrar didn't listen. (clinic letter wasn't a true record of what I'd said either).

My lot are pretty quick at my ophthalmology department.
They open at 8.30 I got the first slot. Normally take 8.30 or 9am? Less chance of a backlog.. ;)

Infact when I did the anti VEGF jabs at 9 I was out 5 minutes before my appointment was actually due on at least 2 occasions.?

It's never perfect, is it? Actually getting to see anyone about anything is pretty well impossible here (Western Isles - offshore Scotland). Because our hospital Diabetes clinic stopped seeing people during the Covid thing (and never started up again) I asked to transfer to my GP surgery. I did see the Diabetes nurse at that point but information from her was not forthcoming (any test results were her secret, not mine). I do have a weekly appointment at the surgery so that another nurse can put bandages on my legs, which is fine, but that stops the system allowing me any other appointments with doctors or nurses.

Similar issue with podiatry at the hospital - everyone had to find a private podiatrist (like hens' teeth here) with the result that I - and others, no doubt - had to wait for many months before receiving any footcare (couldn't get my shoes on at that point).

Opthalmology - similar issues, and getting information from the surgery about reports from specialists is an obstacle course.

I have CKD as well as T2D plus some issues related to fluids, but nobody is remotely interested in advising me or referring me to any experts.

As a result, I do my own thing - whether right or wrong, and muddle through. A happy medium between what we here have, and what you all seem to have, would be nice.

My saga continues...it now turns out that a GP has referred me to a private eye care company for a review of my eyes. Without my say-so, discussion or consent. I've just had my eye checks-ups carried out at the hospital, with no issues!
