does anyone have any information on stiffness in legs as well as uncoordinated movments from diabetes ? i have some really strange symptoms but have been tested for pn and my emg was normal i have stiffness in both legs as well as occasional non stop muscle spasming and my legs are so weak some days i drag them around feels like i have parkinson or ms or something going on as i literally will be moving quite easy one minute and suddenly completely lock up I'm 25 years old so this seems unusual and I'm of perfect weight my doc says any light on this matter would help me my hba1c is 5.4 as well which is low but i do have hypos about twice daily and high blood sugar nearly everyday but it is only for a hour or more then returns to normal but i am told blood sugar fluctuates any ways so i don't think this would cause severe neuropathy or anything like that

Try explaining this and your symptoms all to your GP .
He may want to refer you to neurosciences for some
tests .

I have just spent a few weeks with tests and been in hospital for
further tests on my severe muscle wastage .
Been diagnosed with motor ataxia and dystonia .
They thought it was possibly MS originally .

I wouldn't have found all this out properly without my GP
referral to neurosciences .

Do let us know how you go on too .

Hey Ryan I am sorry your experiencing this and your young like me. Neurology is a good referral and they don't mess about I think Anna makes good point and those suggestions are awesome. I guess I wonder if your ok? And wondered if anyone asked if your doing as alright as can be with this?

not really i guess i mean how does the dystonia affect you ? and how exactly did you know you had motor ataxia ? also does dystonia get worse and what treatments are avaliable for it thank you for your replys

I have similar symptoms to you in a way... I have paralysis now at night when I sleep from my waist to my knees. When sitting down I have bad sensations in same areas.
I have also had the same tests as you.
Finally after being fobbed off for progressively worsening feelings my fantastic diabetic consultant is referring me to a neurologist and spinal expert if needed.
I have also had complete collapse in my left leg a while back and ended up in hospital etc....
I don't know what the diagnosis will be but am glad that my consultant is now referring me to the right persons finally.
I too have good hba1c's but I am a lot older than you!!

thanks for the reply wow that seems very much like me when your left leg collapsed did you have any foot drop ? present and also do you suffer with full body cramping and weakness even with a slight increase with your blood sugar levels mine can be fine at 7 but as soon as my blood goes up to 10 i cramp all over and feel weak and sore for days after and obviously because my blood fluctuates i am in constant cramping mode and pain :( I'm a living mess

My top legs feel as if the muscles are constantly pulling when I sit down. This did disappear for 2 occasions lasting about 9months and 7 months but the night time paralysis started about 6 months ago and now ends up with me sleep shouting in my subconsciensce every night and waking my poor hubby up.
I have also had electrodes put into my groin and trying to change the main nerves. Not worked.
My levels haven't been erratic with highs or lows daily due to being able to manage my levels better with a pump.
You need to speak to your diabetic consultant about this and ask to be referred to a neurologist.
