Hi. I was worried that my less than strict adherence to the low carb diet which had been very successful for me would have had a bad effect on my HbA1c test last week...but, despite croissants and cereal and even biscuits..it is down from 43 to 41! Of course, this means that it could have been even better, but I have had a very tough time recently with infections ranging from small to major due to a suppressed immune system to prevent rejection of a transplanted kidney...so I have slipped up due to being a bit stressed. Anyway, I thought this might serve as some evidence that once the blood sugar is under control - a little relaxation to make a diet sustainable is not necessarily a bad thing.

This is just what I found .. relaxed my low carb but my numbers have stayed in the 'normal range' .. its a wonderful feeling when you realise you can go back to eating what you used to eat .. but then think .. you don't enjoy those thing now :)
Congratulations on your remission .. but do keep an eye on your sugars .. I still test before and after my meals once a week to make sure its still working.

I haven't tried the full LCHF diet myself, but have found that reducing carbs to 100-130g/day combined with increased exercise and slow weight loss have brought BG under control. It is certainly a sustainable diet. I agree that for many people LCHF is sustainable, but it may not be for everyone and think that most people would like another option.

I'm on insulin but have periods where porriage doesn't spike me. Sometimes it does but both times on insulin inj so I back your findings, even on insulin.
Just proves our body adjusts all the time. We never stay the same. I can find it exhausting keeping up.
I am doing not so low carb eating and losing weight (water retention prevalent). More down to metformin working off and on or diet?. Exercise very painful.
Insulin resistance jumps all over the place for me. I think it does for none diabetics too. Just like leptin levels.
