Hi @henryshenrys I am guessing you have been told you have an eGFR of 53, and if so, you are in very early stages of kidney disease, but you need to confirm what you have been told, as if the 53 or 5.3 refers to something else, this information is incorrect! Its suggests you have stage 3 CKD, but if you control your BGs, and ensure you lower BP, the kidneys can quite often happily grumble along with no change. Will it lead to dialysis? Well, on average, I believe most renal clinics aim to start that when the eGFR drops to on or below 8, and at that stage, they will be seriously considering a transplant. My eGFR is now down to 9, so dialysis is being considered, and I am on the transplant waiting list as we speak! Hope all goes well.
