Proteins & kidney damage

The only hard thing I had to cope with diet wise for kidneys was the salt aspect. I never added it to cooking anyway but it is in so many processed foods. I had to eat very few processed foods. I have acid reflux and associated symptoms, and was leaning on Gaviscon quite a lot. I only use it as a last resort now. Certain medications can't be taken when you have CKD too.

For those who have a low GFR, how are you managing your diet? I found out yesterday that I shouldn't be eating wholemeal and especially seeded bread for instance and should ideally stick to white carbs...we all know the consequences of that!
I like the idea of nuts for snacks, but nuts are very high in protein and to be kept to a minimum in kidney disease. How are you managing to keep both conditions happy diet wise? Thanks.
