Hi all, I am currently using a provisional driving license. I was learning to drive but stopped as I went to university, my provisonal has expired after four years and a new one was refused due to me being a type 1 diabetic. Although I am not using my provisonal to drive I am using it for identification. I am curious as to whether it is still able to be used even though it's expired? Or is the expiry just in regards to being on the road? Thanks

I guess it could vary, depending on who you are using it to verify your ID with. For instance, if you were using it to prove to bouncers and/or bar staff that you are old enough to drink alcohol, it probably wouldn't matter but if you were using it as a more formal ID for something like DBS clearance, I am sure they would want to see a current license.

Type 1 will not bar you from a full UK driving licence, you will have to renew every 3 years You can with correct medical have a class 1 lgv / hgv licence ,
