Pump choice

My current pump is due for renewal in April 2019 but I've only been offered a choice of two pumps. The insight which I'm currently using or the ypsomed which I'm not keen on. I was hoping to get more choice but that's all they can offer.

Hi @steveo4. I've just been approved for omnipod in Scotland. Initially they told me I had to either go for ypsomed or medtronic. After discussing with the senior diabetes nurse and showing that I had properly researched the options she set me up with a meeting with the Omnipod rep. After some discussions on cost and agreeing it was the right lifestyle choice for me I was approved for use and have my fitting next month.

I think most places will look at other options as long as the cost is equitable and there are no other barriers. Training is less of an issue as the rep does all of that.

Hope that helps

Wow. That's twice as much choice as I have.
For me, it's Medtronic 640 or injections.
Small choice saves money on training.

Apparently when I asked about the possibility of having more choice I was told that it's a post code lottery. Certain areas are given more choice which is a totally unfair system. We should all be given an equal amount.

I was offered the choice of 3 pumps.....Medtronic 640G, Omnipod or Accu Check Combo

DSN phone d me last week to make my choice and she said that the training day could be 4 - 6 weeks away

iIf you can hold off the Medtronic 670g (or by another number) will be released very soon, sorry I don’t have any inside news of exactly when, but it can’t be that far away. I have the 640g and love it.

Am also on the Insight following on from AC Combo.
Am hoping that next time round we will have cgm/pump aka artificial pancreases.
For now I am happy with the very useful cartridge feature of the AC Insight but know the smallness of the cartridge and the slowness of the meter is frustrting for some users.

I did ask the DSN and she said it will not be available for a while in my health board
