Hey guys,
This may be a really silly question but I am switching to a pump in the next couple of months. How do we go about ordering infusion sets etc? My nurse said through animas but would that mean personally funding all of these things? Or are they still funded by the Nhs?
Thanks
Nikki

Ps I will be switching to an animas vibe

Hello. I'm on Animas Vibe and although the NHS fund all my supplies I order them by phoning Animas directly. Animas are great at sending out everything you need and quickly too.

An account will be set up for you so that when you need supplies you ring up and order them. They are then delivered by courier. If you ring before 10 AM then you get next day delivery.(well that depends on how thick the delivery driver is) After 10 then 48 hours later. You have to sign for the supplies. Make sure you know how often you can order. Some areas allow 3 monthly ordering other 6 mths etc.
Always make sure you have 1 box of cannulas left before you order the next, just in case of postal or manufacturing delays.
Happy pumping :)
PS, as I haven't made it very clear your account bill will be sent to your CCG or PCT in old money.

ROFL @CarbsRok and the comment about thick delivery drivers!! This sums up so many of my deliveries (admittedly not just Animas) and I thought it was just me!

Well city link used to deliver and were very good in this area. Animas have changed firms due to problems with the drivers in other areas.

The new firm is the pits though, I asked that my delivery went to my parents home as I was there a lot of the time due to my fathers impending death. Simple you would have thought, but nope it took 5 days for a next day delivery to arrive and that was after I had a go at the company. They told me the place wasn't on the drivers SAT NAV and as obviously a new build they couldn't find the place............ The new build was built in 1600 and something

Same here, Animas logistics are Rolls Royce level.

Presumably because they charge the NHS Rolls Royce prices?

I imagine as pumps become more common, price pressure on the NHS will increase and the logistics of consumables will become more stingy and resemble standard web retailer type of logistics. These may be the golden years to be a UK pumper - enjoy it while it lasts!
