On my first pump, the Accu Chek Spirit, it used to say how many days until it needed replacing. This new pump of mine, well, it's a year old Spirit Combo doesn't have this. Does anyone know how long you have to have them until it can be replaced? I am assuming another 5 long years...

I have heard 4 years too but think the count down on my old pump was 6 years

As far as I know it's 4 yrs for the combo unless your PCT has paid for an extra 2 years warranty.
There is no timer of death on it though so wont just stop working like the old roche pump did.

Thankyou :) Got three years left then....................................
What pump do you have CarbsRok ?

Animas :(
Put it this way it's not on my wish list. But it's better than nothing. Only good thing is customer care which is 1st class.

CarbsRok do you mind if I ask why you don't like the Animas? As it's my only pump I have nothing to compare it to. My DSN insisted it was the only pump I could have due to my reduced vision. I'm hoping by the time my 4 years is up there'll be more choice with good displays :)

If it were a 1st pump then I would have known no better but my misfortune was having a Cozmo pump which was far more advanced than any pump on the market even though it hasn't been made for the last 3 or 4 years.
There are very limited features on the Animas, far to many button pushes and far to many screens to wade through. When telling it how many carbs you eating or correcting it just keeps on going even though you have taken your finger off of the button. It is for ever telling me it isn't primed. I have turned the safety device off for the pump switching off if no button pushed after 11 hrs due to the pump alarming after it is reset and having to prime it. It will not allow a temp basal below 0.025 units
That's just a few of the niggly things about it I do not like.

The Animas is what I want. I really liked my old Animas pump. I agree with their customer care.
What is on your wish list? I have never looked at any other pump, just have my heart set on an Animas.

I feel like I've got backwards with this Accu Chek Combo. I HATE how long it takes to 'talk' between remote and pump. I REALLY do not want a remote. :(

Hmmm I think you may have a faulty Animas pump CarbsRok. Mine never keeps going like that. It always stops as soon as I take my finger off. It's also never told me it isn't primed or anything like that. I have a friend on the 2020 also who doesn't have these issues. Have you spoken to Animas about them? The pump has an alarm history and I was told that if the pump alarms too much they replace it but you have to report the alarms.

Obviously with regards to the features I have nothing to compare but I can imagine how annoying it would be to go down to a more basic pump than your previous one.

This is my 2nd pump since sept and the previous pump did exactly the same thing as well.
The one I have now is squeeking like a demented mouse every 3 mins when it infuses insulin.
I also have friends who have been on or on the Animas they all complain about the same things.
A friend is so peed off with it he has changed his pump to the Combo and prefers it.
Animas need to wake up big time and build a pump of a lot better quality. They have done nothing what so ever for at least 6 years with it. It's old and tired. :(

For information/reference for others choosing or changing pumps - I have a medtronic Minimed paradigm pump - excellent pump and no complaints whatsoever

CarbsRok I'm sorry I had no idea the Animas was so bad. I must be lucky, so far, that mine hasn't done those things. It does make me wonder what will happen to my pump with time.

In the meantime I just want to try and get the sets sorted. Having been on another pump do you feel the Animas set quality is inferior too? Lately I do feel that they have cut costs with the quality and that's why I'm having so many issues :(

I have just spoken to Animas and my pump had a comunication error. It has now been fixed :)

No the sets are fine no problem with quality at all. The problem I had with sets was due to just needing a dif length. :)

I've just changed from an old Accu Chek Spirit to the Paradigm Veo. I've only had it 10 days, but so far so good. There's more button pushes than the Spirit &, unless you use the remote control (which delivers a simple bolus only), it's not simple to deliver a quick bolus discreetly as I could with the accu chek. It's definitely not possible to bolus without looking at the pump (except using the remote). However, I started my first CGM sensor yesterday & it's very useful, hopefully it will help me sort out my big swings without doing 15 BGs a day. I like the little remote. Don't know what I'd have done on NYE when the pump was strapped to my inner thigh otherwise! I would have made a right spectacle of myself grappling up my dress to get the pump out to bolus lol.
All in all, I like the Veo so far.

I like my remote it means I dont have to get my pump out - I dont want to wear it on my belt or dress so its at the side of my bra imaging trying to whip that out for a bolus!

Prin how do you wear it on the side?!? Doesn't it stop you putting your arm down properly? I wear mine on my bra but at the front clipped onto the middle section. I have got very fast at slipping it on and off lol!! Would love to know how to wear it your way as an option.

I've never minded getting my pump out... I like it to fiddle with it

I also get this pump not primed message quite often,it is getting quite noisy too.
I could not get through to support before Christmas.
