Based on another question, how does pump funding work if you are at a diabetic clinic in one CCG and your GP is under a totally different CCG?

The funding request goes to the CCG that your GP is registered under.

Back in 2009 my friend got a referal to see the Prof about getting a pump who applied for funding from London. She lived in East Suffolk where her GP was based so am not sure what PCT was approached for the funding.

Whether things have now changed, I think the best people to contact would be INPUT.

@iHs my CCG gave me the info regarding how the funding works last week :)

The pump funding is dependent on where you live, not your GP address.

No it isn't, The GP is the one who is paid for your care by the CG in the county that the surgery is based in. So if GP X has you on his books he writes to consultants for apts and the CCG is invoiced for those consults and any treatment.
This explains it very well http://www.southernderbyshireccg.nhs.uk/publications/gp-blog/how-nhs-treatment-is-paid-for/

Who Pays? Determining responsibility for ... - NHS England

Will check this out... As the rules were changed since the last link
(2013).. Have emailed my Practice Manager. Should get a response tomorrow.

I am moving to a totally different CCG area now but keeping with my Practice 25 miles away (for lots of reasons..). As the rules changed in Nov last year I can do this as I work near my current Practice.

My hospital that I will keep will be 50 miles each way.

Will clarify tomorrow but I was under the impression that in Nov last year due to the rules changing to allow workers to have GPs near their place of work, rather than home that the payments were on home postal codes.

Will confirm tomorrow.

Interesting. How do you find out what your "work" CCG will fund compared to your "home" CCG?

I'm also intrigued by the "Personal Health Budget" idea - I think I need to look into that some more...

I spoke to my CCG on Friday of last week regarding my pump funding so the information I have given is correct. Plus the links confirm this.

Yes you are right Carbsrok.. Its where the Practice is...

It puts me in a bit of a dilemma to be honest so I am so glad that you have mentioned this and for me to check it out.

New bungalow is in a better CCG area for red drugs and double red items.

However, I love the Practice where I am currently.... So do I go for funding or for the GP care?

Sorry to derail yet another post!!

Thnx Carbsrok.. Always glad to have ur advice n knowledge.

Me too will discuss this with my GP when I go for bloods on Monday as don't think it has been rolled out in all areas yet. Would save a lot of hassle re sorting pump funding out :)

Well I've just rung up our CCG and the person on the desk hadn't even heard the term, in spite of their being loads of stuff on their webpage! Marvellous...

Only one guess allowed as to why the CCG's and NHS are inefficient and broke :(
