Hi I'm going to uni at the end of September and will be living in halls. I know while I'm at home the house insurance covers my pump. Is there anywhere I can get insurance to cover the pump while in halls?
Thanks

Hi @pinkvix, There is a recent thread on this. Try 'pump insurance' in the search feature at the top of Forums. And never let the sun set on a pump detached. (if you can help it)!!
Best Wishes for Uni.

Do you have insurance for your belongings whilst you are in halls?
If you are insuring things like laptop and sports equipment, you may be able to include your pump on that contents insurance.

(Unless things have changed, the university does not insure your belongings.)

Best look at pump insurance for you I believe, I don't want any general insurer for my pump.

That's interesting.
Why would you not trust a "general insurer" for your pump?

Because they don't understand what it does or the importance of it. I was asked if it would be kept in a safe due to its value when not in use for example.

Plus I get next day guaranteed replacement and holiday cover with additional loaner pump cover for about £1 more a month with specialized insurance and no excess.

As a side note I've just waited 3 weeks for a animal insurance payout - my opinion of insurance isn't that high anyway.

Thankfully, my insurers seem to understand about a pump - the guy I spoke to had diabetes and was trying to get one for himself.
I get holiday cover with my travel insurance.
I get a loaner pump from the pump manufacturer when I am overseas (which is not just for holidays)

As with any insurance, it is a matter of deciding what level of risk you are willing to accept.
Given, my pump is under warranty and the manufacturer (so far) seems happy to replace it under this warranty when it fails, I feel the chances of needing additional cover is low so I will take the risk of going through my insurance.
It will only be needed if I break it through misuse (very unlikely as it seems to be very rugged) or loss (very unlikely because I rarely disconnect it).

However, I am interested to read what additional services are provided by the insurance in addition to paying money if the pump is damaged or lost.
I will consider this for my next pump as it will be with a different manufacturer and it sounds as if Animas are generous with loaner pumps, etc.

Thank you for the information.
