Hey I need some advice. Its my first day of pumping today and they told me to insure the pump.I know that most people put it on their home insurance but its not an option for me. I quoted insurance4pump and its £7 per month. Does anyone know anything cheaper than this?

Do you not have house contents ins? If living with parents ask them to put it on theirs Another option is to check with ins brokers and see what they have to offer.

I live in a rented accomodation and my landlord do insurance on his name. I dont think he insures content. Thank you i will check ins brokers. To be honest all insurance subject is very alien to me

If he doesn't insure the contents, then you need to, because if you burn the house down by leaving the cooker on he will want the contents replaced.
Shop around different brokers explain you are in rented and need to insure the contents. Also ask to insure the pump as a separate item or inclusive tell them the cost and they will work out the cost. It shouldn't be anymore than £20 for the pump as an added extra.

I might be wrong, but I don't think you can put in on house contents ins as the Ins Cos usually have a value limit for any one item and I think the pump might exceed the limit. For example, if you have a house full of valuable antiques or a Lowry painting on the wall, all exceeding the limit, you have to list them and their value. It might be worthwhile finding out if you stated it as a specific item valued at £xxxxx, how much extra they would charge. I'd be surprised if they bumped the premium up by £84 p.a.

Another option - does the pump supplier offer any Insurance?

Best of luck and I'm sure other pump users will come along with their recommendations. (I'm not a pump user)

You can put it on contents ins as a separate item. Loads of us have done so, me included

Yes.. It would have to be an itemised item due to the cost and this is where household insurance people can add more on but normally it is neglible.

You scared me now! I need to get familiar with all of it. Thank you for your advice

Thank you. The pump supplier offers guarantee but doesnt insure it from loss or being stolen
