Before I started lowering the carbs and cutting out sugar stuff I weighed just under 9 st not overweight but I am happiest at around 8st 8lb so was quite happy when I found I had lost some weight and was back to what I liked to be but it did not stop there and over the next few weeks I went down to about 8st 3lb and was not happy about that. It did stop there and for a few months I never lost or gained any
Wanting to put back a few pound I started to eat nuts knowing they were high in fat and calories and it did work but now I have put on to much I weighed myself today and I am 8st 12lb It must be the nuts as I have not changed anything else so I will stop eating them and I am still not convinced that fat does not make you fat. My diet is mostly moderate carbs and fat

Hi,

looks like you have discovered a way to control your weight to the nearest pound.
simply raise or lower your nut consumption to fine tune it.

what a lovely way to get such perfect control.

Well done on finding a way to control your weight - up or down - just by eating or not eating nuts. I wish I were so lucky.

I meant to ask if anyone else had put on weight eating nuts

I was not eating huge amounts of nuts I don't have big portions of anything
I have no idea about your body shape and energy requirements, but too much is simply "more than you need"!

You say that you chose nuts because you knew they were high in calories and because you wanted to put on weight. Protein tends to be high in calories.

Well I can't think it was anything else as I have been eating the same way for over a year now.. except for the nuts... without gaining any of the weight I lost. Even before lowering the carbs and stopping sugar stuff I was never overweight I am 5.5 height and have always been a size 10/12

Yes I know protein is higher calories but I would not want to eat more than I do as I think what I have now is enough. Add the nuts and the amount of fat and calories I was having with those was obviously to much.

I am 76 5.5 in height and a size 10/12 quite active no mobility problems and I walk a lot with my dog

Yes true. You could of course choose to keep the nuts (protein and fat) and reduce carbs a little?

To be honest, most "normal" people; particularly women, find their weight fluctuates a bit from day to day. Mine flutters by a few pounds, and I could tell you on any given day where I will be against my mid point (i.e. the middle point of my higher and lower usual weights). I find that eating more carbs, my scale weight goes up, for a day or so, similarly if I eat LOTS of veg. I'm surmising that's because, formerly, carbs in digestion hold water and latterly, veg contains a lot of water, but in neither instance am I actually gaining actual weight/fat.

I also know if I have not been regular in my,........... erm,........... bathroom habits, my scale will reflect that too.

Unless you have weighed at your higher weight consistently for a few weeks, I'd say it could be premature to actually state you have gained weight/fat.

I seem to recall in your earlier incarnation you were really pretty desperate to gain weight. Maybe I got that bit wrong........

easy 1 this annie,,,just eat half as much nuts and u will probbly stay at same weight and not loose or gain any

Yes you are right I did want to gain a bit of weight back to what I was but I gained a bit to much so was over what I was before anyway will stop the nuts for a bit and keep to the way I have been eating and hopefully will not gain any more
