Query re readings

My readings are erratic and I am used to abrupt swings up and down. However today, after a normal breakfast at 9am, I had a coffee and toasted teacake, with butter, at 11am. I got home at 1.15pm and my meter reading was 22! Surely a teacake could not push it up so high. Perhaps I should have had some insulin beforehand?
 
Probably should have taken some insulin but I wouldn't worry too much about a one off high reading.
