Could be a mild allergy/intolerance to something that you're eating. I start to get a little bit wheezes if I have too much dairy. Or your sugars could be a bit high? Have you tested?

Doesn't sound like a T2 symptom. How are you sitting? are you slouched enough to compress your chest?

Coughing and excess mucus after eating is generally a sign of asthma. With some people it can be very mild and there can be more than one trigger, for instance the combined effect of the pollen in the air and some small allergen in your food can be enough to cause a problem when niether would on their own.

See your GP, they'll do a peak flow test and probably try you with a ventolin inhaler. With mild asthma the way they often diagnose it is to give you an inhaler, if you have asthma it will help, if you don't then it won't help so they know to look for some other cause. Often all you need is a low dose preventer inhaler once or twice a day or just a ventolin inhaler to use when you have symptoms.

I never suspected I could have asthma, but it turned out that I did, very likely from having worked for a few years as an electronics technician. I use a low dose preventer inhaler twice a day and carry a ventolin inhaler that I only generally need when I encounter someone who has marinated themselves in Lynx, or when the pollen count is very high. Worth the bother because I no longer cough after eating and no longer catch every cold and chest complaint going around.

I was diagnosed with asthma in 2009 and was constantly breathless and wheezing and by 2012 was walking only with the aid of sticks. Also had gastritis and felt full after a mouthful of food. Was diagnosed with diabetes, I cut out the obvious carbs like bread, pasta, cakes etc and was put on Metformin in August 2012, within a few weeks the wheezing had almost disappeared and I had a bit of energy for the first time in years.

If I fall off the wagon and start eating bread and cakes again, I soon start wheezing but not to the degree I did before, because I quickly cut back on the carbs.

I do think in some case asthma can be a symptom of undiagnosed diabetes or possibly that cutting out the carbs highlights a possible intolerance to wheat that we wouldn't have known about otherwise.

I don't use any inhalers now, but I do carry my Epipen because I'm also prone to angioedema and anaphylaxis. Can't run a marathon, but can talk and walk at the same time which is a vast improvement.
